It is rare that we get a phone call from a potential client and they know exactly how the interior design process works, what to expect when working with a designer, or how an interior designer could change their life in a matter of weeks, months or years depending on the size and extent of the project.
It is our job as Interior Designers to educate our potential clients and our clients as to how we can assist them in gaining happiness, stress-relief, comfort, safety, security, efficiency, health, enjoyment, relaxation, and so on within the homes they already have. It takes skill to take an ordinary space and to maximize it to the fullest in terms of atmosphere, environment, luxury, etc. while managing the budget, quality, style, timeline, subs, contractors, architect involvement, tradespeople, artisans, etc. to customize the space to make it express the personality of the client. This is no easy task!
I am personally constantly thinking about the designs I’m creating for my clients. It’s not unusual that I will arrive at the office and announce to the girls that I figured out a solution to a client’s design challenge or design detail while I was in the shower that morning, or falling asleep the night before. I sleep, breathe, and live design.
We’re on your team and we can’t wait for you to see the spaces finished for the first time, live in it the first week and tell us how you like it, and then hear from you in 2 years how you still love it and continue to grow into the spaces we’ve designed for you.
Enjoy the videos with some other talented Designers I met in DC while filming and all of our thoughts on the relationships we have with our clients and what it’s like to work with an Interior Designer. We’d love to hear from you about your experiences and what you like best about Interior Design in general!
DESIGN NOTE: All of the photos of spaces shared in this post are some of Susan’s designs that were shared by ASID in the videos.
